Released in 1986, this album as a leader is by Nebraska-born jazz bassist Marc Johnson, who made his professional debut at the age of nineteen with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. After playing with the Woody Herman Band, he reached a major turning point in his career through his performances with Bill Evans at the Village Vanguard. A double-guitar quartet featuring Bill Frisell and John Scofield on guitars and Peter Erskine on drums. Highlights include A1, where Frisell and Scofield’s electric guitars intertwine organically over an open and spacious rhythm section, and B3, where Frisell’s guitar synthesizer floats through the space above a shadowy reggae beat. With its edgy, solid sound resonating across an exceptionally wide sonic field, this masterpiece presents a compelling vision of abstract electric jazz. Original German pressing.

A1: Samurai Hee-Haw
B2: A Wishing Doll
B3: Mojo Highway
