This is a leader album released in 1977 by Italian jazz bassist Marcello Melis, who has worked in the free field, including with Steve Lacy, Enrico Rava and Mario Schiano. Quartet with Enrico Rava (tp), Roswell Rudd (tb) and Don Moye (ds), with vocal quartet Gruppo Rubanu. The whole album is great, including the jungle jazz A1/B1 that echoes Don Cherry and the Art Ensemble of Chicago, but the highlight of the album is the song featuring the chorus by Gruppo Rubanu. The band is drawn to Avant-ethno jazz, a primitive performance with a unique chorus that sublimates the traditional music of Sardinia, an Italian island in the Mediterranean Sea.
