This is a masterpiece album released in 1979 by the Brazilian female singer Mariama, produced by Ricardo Cantaluppi. Aecio Flavio and Antonio Adolfo handled the arrangements. The album features songs by Chico Buarque, Roberto Menescal, Gonzaga Jr., Carlos Lyra, Tom Jobim, Ivan Lins, Roberto Carlos, Gilberto Gil, and more. It transforms these songs into sophisticated mood Bossa Jazz with an aura of mature elegance. The performance on this album is exceptional. Notably, the opening track, A1, stands out with its high-energy percussive beat and groovy bass, complemented by attacking backing piano and guitar, all set to Mariama's soulful vocals. It's a jazz groove tune reminiscent of Azymuth and Edu Lobo. The five songs on the B-side are seamlessly arranged medleys, all of them impeccably produced. This Japanese pressing from 1981, supervised by Toyo Nakamura, offers excellent sound quality with a solid mid-to-low range, even better than the Brazilian pressing.
