An album released in 1975 on ABC Impulse! by American jazz saxophonist Marion Brown, who was active on the front lines of the jazz scene from the 1960s through 2000. In addition to renowned musicians such as Stanley Cowell (piano, percussion), Anthony Davis (electric piano), Reggie Workman (bass), Jimmy Hopps (drums), and Ed Blackwell (drums), the album also features a surprising guest appearance by Harold Budd on one track. Recorded around the same time as Brown’s celebrated works Sweet Earth Flying and Duet, this album stands out for its complete absence of avant-garde or free jazz elements. Instead, it offers consistently groovy and lyrical contemporary jazz, making it a rare gem and a historic masterpiece. Every track is a flawless work of art, but the highlight is A2—a superbly mellow cover of a Stevie Wonder classic featuring vocals by Allen Murphy. This is the original U.S. quadraphonic edition.
