This is a masterpiece album by the American jazz saxophonist Marion Brown, who had a long and prominent career from the 1960s to 2000. It was released in 1968 on ESP Disk. The album features a quartet with Norris Jones on bass, Stanley Cowell on piano, and Rashied Ali on drums. The album is filled with enchanting moments, such as the beautiful tenor saxophone and piano interplay that captivates like sunlight in A1, the mystic atmosphere of the floating number in A2, and the title track B1, which races deeply with a sense of instability. After the passing of John Coltrane, this album suggests an important new direction in avant-garde spiritual jazz. Highly recommended. This is likely a reissue in the 1980s from Italy, but it maintains good sound quality.
