A classic 1985 masterpiece featuring film scores composed by Mark Isham—a trumpeter and synthesist from New York with a classical background, who delved into jazz and rock, and eventually extended his reach into the realms of New Age and ambient music heavily utilizing electronics. Side A includes track A1, featuring pianist Lyle Mays, a core member of the Pat Metheny Group; track A2, composed solely with Isham’s synthesizers and trumpet. Side B presents an over-24-minute-long suite (B1) featuring reed players including Bill Douglass, with harp by Natalie Cox and a vocal ensemble. Each piece, though created for different films, shares a remarkable sense of cohesion and rich coloration, making for a sublime ambient/New Age experience. Highly recommended throughout. Original US pressing.
