Three Blind Mice/Trio-Kenwood (Japan) 1982

sleeve : EX+(very slightly dirts.)

Japanese jazz singer Martha Miyake, who began singing at a U.S. military camp in 1953 and gained attention the following year after joining the Gay Septet led by Raymond Conde, released this album in 1982 on the Three Blind Mice label to commemorate her 30th anniversary as a vocalist. Featuring Red Mitchell (b), Don Abney (p), and Mike Reznikoff (ds), the album includes 12 tracks accompanied by a piano trio, piano & bass duo, piano solo, and bass solo. Centered around standard songs from the 1920s and 1930s, the album showcases swinging numbers once sung by Billie Holiday, as well as tunes made famous by Tony Bennett. Miyake’s richly expressive vocals truly affirm her status as one of Japan’s leading jazz singers.
