This is featured in the guidebook OBSCURE SOUND REVISED EDITION. In addition to his work with the progressive rock band Yoninbayashi and the new wave group Plastics, Masahide Sakuma was a genius multi-instrumentalist who handled various productions with an exceptionally refined sense. He composed hit songs for commercials and idols, and even produced instructional records for synthesizers. This is essentially his first solo album, released in 1984, and it's an absolute masterpiece. It comes from JVC's Music Interior series, which also featured works by Seigen Ono, Ichiko Hashimoto, and Yoshio Suzuki. The album is produced by Seigen Ono and centers on the theme of environmental music. However, it presents highly experimental sounds, such as track A1, where Sakuma’s guitar solos—reminiscent of Suso Saiz—are layered over electric guitar refrains and minimalist basslines, and track A4, where low-frequency electronic sounds echo like signals. The album also includes collaborations with players of Western early music instruments, incorporating strong elements of minimal music and new wave. This is one of the most unique and outstanding albums in the series, highly recommended.
