This album was debut album by Masahiko Sato, one of Japan's leading jazz pianists, who has been active at the forefront of the music. This is a reissue of the album released in 1978 with a different jacket design as part of the "Far East Jazz" series. The first album by the Masahiko Sato Trio was a cover of a theme song from a chivalrous movie titled "Dawn Song" in 1966, but this is the first full-fledged jazz album along with "Deformation". It was a trio composition with Yasuo Arakawa (b) and Masahiko Togashi (ds), and except for A1, a cover of The Beatles, all the songs were originally scored by Masahiko Sato. It's a wonderful work where you can feel that his luscious and outstanding performance had already blossomed in the early stages of his career, from modal arrangements to post-bop/free music. Masahiko Togashi's playing is very cool.
