This masterpiece piano solo album was released in 1976 by Japan's renowned jazz pianist, Masaaki Satoh, who has been active in the forefront since his debut with the leader album "Palladium" in 1969. For this album, calligrapher Katsuhiko Satoh created six pieces of calligraphy, which were displayed on the stage of Tokyo's Toho Life Hall. Drawing inspiration from these calligraphies, Masaaki Satoh performed six improvisational free music pieces, and the album includes recordings of these performances.
Each track is titled with phrases evoking a Buddhist worldview, such as “Hajime (Beginning)," "Michi” (The Way) "Kwanj-izai," "Jizo Bosatsu," "Sammi" and "Mujin (No One)." The titles reflect a deeply spiritual and introspective essence, providing a listening experience of free improvised performances that delve into the depths of the mind. Among Masaaki Satoh's piano solo works, this album stands out as one of his finest masterpieces.
