Matthias Kriesberg is an American composer and pianist who studied composition at Columbia University and the Juilliard School, and has been commissioned by the Fromm Music Foundation and the American Composers Orchestra, as well as working on composition for a film by Tony De Nonno. This album was released in 1987. In addition to his own compositions, the album features works by Stefan Wolpe, Milton Babbitt, and Arthur Kreiger. The piano pieces are composed of fragmentary melodies, including his own, but the focus is on the B2 by Arthur Kreiger, which is a collage of electronic sounds made with magnetic tape that seems to respond to the piano playing.

A1: Matthias Kreigberg “a3520”
B2: Arthur Kreiger “Fantasy for piano and electronic tape”
