An album released in 1966 by the renowned American drummer Max Roach, who had a wide range of activities from the bebop era in the 50s to ethnic-return groups like the percussion ensemble M'Boom. Featuring a quintet with Freddie Hubbard (tp), James Spaulding (as), Ronnie Mathews (p), and Jymie Merritt (b), plus Roland Alexander (ss) on one track. With Roach's drum solo tracks A1/A3/B2, the moody and groovy 7/8 beat tune A2, the blues-jazz B1 featuring Alexander's pleasant soprano sax, and the spiritual jazz B3 that opens up a world of perspectives, all performances are absolutely superb. Highly recommended. Original US pressing.
