A five-track 12-inch single by Mazlika, an emerging Tokyo-based track maker, released on Off Center — the experimental imprint run by Dotei Records, the excellent record store based in Hachioji, Tokyo — following its previous release by Richard Scott. Built entirely from sampling, the record presents a form of reconstructed body music, shaped by a wonderfully free sense of rhythm that reflects Mazlika’s physicality as a dancer. The result is a highly intriguing set of tracks where fragmented materials are reassembled into a tactile, movement-oriented sound world. Mastering and cutting were handled by Pole of Scape Mastering in Berlin, Germany, achieving remarkably fine sound quality for a contemporary 12-inch release.
