Aija Recording (Australia) 1980
003 (LP) Coated sleeve.
sleeve : EX(some light wear on edge and corner.)
media : EX-/EX(side A has a few light noise caused by some slightly hairlines and slightly scratches.)
A truly nice record has just arrived. This 1980 duo masterpiece brings together trumpeter Keith Hounslow—an active presence in the Australian jazz scene since the 1950s—and pianist Tony Gould, a key figure in shaping Australian jazz from the 1970s onward through collaborations with Alan Lee’s group and saxophonist Brian Brown, with whom he created the classic The Planets in 1980. The album features entirely free improvisations for piano and trumpet, yet it avoids the dissonant chaos typical of free jazz. Instead, it unfolds through beautifully refined melodic dialogues, with both musicians gracefully exchanging lyrical lines in perfect balance. An outstanding work from start to finish—most highly recommended.
A4: Toot Madicum
A5: Wee Bllade
B4: Minutes Ole
