The album was released in 1987 by Australian percussionist Michael Askill, a member of the South Australian Symphony Orchestra and the Elizabethan Sydney Orchestra, has performed in Japan as a member of the Australian Youth Orchestra. The album features compositions by Australian composers such as Nigel Westlake, Martin Wesley-Smith, Peter Sculthorpe and Ross Edwards. Compositions by Australian composers such as Nigel Westlake, Martin Wesley-Smith, Peter Sculthorpe and Ross Edwards. A1 is minimalistic with marimba and shaker refrains and slit drum rhythms, A2 is reminiscent of Italian experimentalism with its electronic sound using Fairlight CMI, and B1 features a large amount of percussion instruments including Aboriginal folk instruments and Turkish cymbals. The delicate and three-dimensional sound processing is also outstanding. Highly recommended
