Released in 1978, this is the leader album by Michael Mantler, an Austrian jazz trumpeter who flourished in the U.S. Larry Coryell(g), Carla Bley(p,synth,ts), Steven Swallow(b) and Tony Williams(ds) form a quintet. With Larry Coryell's psychedelic electric guitar at the core, the album is full of experimental jazz-rock that is so close to progressive rock that it is hard to believe that it is the work of a quintet of renowned jazz musicians. The synthesizer played by Carla Bley sounds like European symphonic rock. This is an original German release produced and distributed by ECM.
