This album, released in 1969, is by the French composer Michel Puig, who began his composition career in the late 1950s under the tutelage of Polish composer Rene Leibowitz. The album features a chamber opera composed in 1961 based on text by Jaues Pajak, with Leibowitz, his mentor, conducting. The music falls under the genre of contemporary music with a post-modern inclination, comprising chamber music and vocalization. While resonating with avant-garde/free jazz elements, there are numerous connections to the avant-garde music centered around Black Jazz that was prominently featured in the <Actuel> series released by BYG Records. The album shares similarities with the Art Ensemble of Chicago as well.
