This is the debut leader album released in 1979 by American guitarist Mick Goodrick, who joined Gary Burton's group in the mid-to-late 1960s and later became a member of Jack DeJohnette's Special Edition in the 1980s. The album features a quartet with a solid lineup familiar to ECM, including John Surman (ss, bs, bc), Eddie Gomez (b), and Jack DeJohnette (ds). In tracks like B1, where an open and airy rhythm section combines with the ethereal sound of the electric guitar, and in the magnificent B3, which evokes a vast landscape, you'll find yourself irresistibly drawn into the organic style of ECM, characterized by a sense of openness and rich, wet-toned soprano saxophone. This album is a masterpiece that truly exemplifies the essence of ECM's sound.
