This album was released in 1974 by Mieko Hirota, who made her debut in 1961 at the age of 14 and gained popularity as a talented singer who could sing jazz and R&B songs perfectly. Arranged by Hiromasa Suzuki and performed by the Columbia All Stars, a group specially organized for this release. The album features American standard numbers from the 20's to the 60's with a focus on music for films and musicals. With the string orchestra at the center, Larry Hisanaga (per), Shozo Nakagawa (ft), Ken Muraoka (ss), Yoshimaru Kinoshita (ft), Michiko Shibata (ft), and others joined in for each song, creating an elegant and moody performance. Hirota's vocals, which have a bit of a distinctive habit, also dance very moodily. The sound is very good on the Columbia discs of this time.
