Guitarist/vocalist Mike Pinera, known for his work with rock groups such as Ramatam, Thee Image, Iron Butterfly and New Cactus Band, released this solo album in 1978. A1 is especially noteworthy, revisiting a standout track originally featured on Thee Image’s 1975 second album Inside The Triangle. Compared with Thee Image’s version, this rendition takes on an even mellower atmosphere, with a melancholic arrangement and Pinera’s powerful, bluesy vocals coming together in superb Balearic rock style. Also recommended is B3, featuring hard-edged guitar work and a cool, trippy synthesizer sound.
