This is the 1977 Japanese reissue of the album released in 1968 by Miles Davis, the undisputed giant of the American jazz scene. Wayne Shorter(ts), Herbie Hancock(piano), Ron Carter(b), Tony Williams(ds). Produced by Teo Macero and Howard A. Roberts on three tracks each, this was the last album before MIles began to electrify the world, and can be said to be the final form of modal jazz established on 1959's Kind of Blue. As described in the insert, the sidemen fully understood and practiced the music that Miles had in his mind, which was becoming more impressionistic in nature. The fact that all the songs on this album were scored by the participating members is also a testament to this.

A1: Nefertiti
A2: Fall
