Miro Takebi Trio Vol. 2
Fellow Traveler
Gas Point! (Japan) 1984
GAS-4988 (LP)
sleeve : VG+(dirts.)
media : EX/EX(some slightly noise.)
Self-taught in music from the age of 21, Japanese pianist Ken Miro began his professional career soon after, running the jazz club Gas Point! in Sapporo during the late 1970s before relocating to New York in the 1980s to expand his musical horizons. This privately released 1984 album features Ken in a trio setting with Makoto Saito (b) and Shuichi “Ponta” Murakami (ds), performing all original compositions by Ken. From the deeply emotional piano ballad on A1, reminiscent of Mal Waldron, to the long session on B2 where Ponta’s powerful drumming, Saito’s supple bass, and Ken’s impassioned piano interplay shine brilliantly, the entire album delivers top-tier post-bop that captivates from start to finish. A truly outstanding work of remarkable quality, especially for a private pressing.
A1: After Dark
B2: Core
