An album released in 1980 by American pianist Mitchel Forman on the Japanese jazz label Next Wave, known for his collaborations with artists like Mark Egan, Bill Evans, and Pat Metheny, as well as his tenure as a member of John McLaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra. The album features solo piano performances, including live recordings from the New Port Jazz Festival in July of the same year. All tracks consist of original compositions by Forman, whose performances delicately depict shifting seasonal landscapes akin to faint abstract paintings. His playing, comparable to luminaries like Keith Jarrett and Chick Corea, is exceptionally beautiful and lyrical. The recording, featuring the late David Baker, who sadly passed away in 2004 after contributing to over 5000 recordings, is remarkable, with each note resonating vividly and beautifully. Highly recommended.
