The Swedish jazz group Mount Everest was formed in 1970 by saxophonist Gilbert Holmstrom and released an album on Caprice Records' Jazz I Sverige series in 1979. The album was released in 1981. In addition to original member Matz Nilsson (b), Ronny Johansson (piano) joined the group from the previous album "Jazz I Sverige", Michael Andersson (dr) joined the group from this album, and Salomon Helperin and Lars-Goran Carlsson played brass parts. (dr), and Salomon Helperin and Lars-Goran Carlsson on brass parts. As the title suggests, this is a Latin-themed album, with Gilbert Holmstrom composing and arranging all of the tracks. The album contains Latin cocktail jazz with a perfect blend of modern contemporary and Latin music, such as the fast-paced A3 with its soaring percussion rhythm and tropical feeling, and B2 with its relaxed atmosphere and occasional high-pitch development.
