A 1977 7-inch single by Naomi Chiaki, one of Japan's leading female vocalists, who, after rising to fame in the early 1970s with "Kassai," "Gekijo," and "Yakan Hiko" as "dramatic kayo," continued to absorb various musical styles and left behind many acclaimed performances before going on hiatus in 1992. This release sees Chiaki Naomi, who was trying to break away from enka and kayokyoku, cover a song by folk singer Kazuki Tomokawa. It's a unique masterpiece of Japanese groove, featuring an emotional folk-rock groove with psychedelic guitar, blazing brass/strings, and even poetry reading. The B-side, featuring the mournful sound of the shakuhachi, delves even deeper into Kazuki Tomokawa's world, but with Naomi Chiaki's unique expressive power added to an acoustic, nervous folk sound, which is also superb.
