Napoleon Cherry
When You Had The Chance
PPU Records (US) 2015
PPU 068 (12”) Cut-hole plain sleeve
sleeve : NEW

US creator Napoleon Cherry released his 12-inch single "Napoleon Cherry" on his independent label in 1989, followed by the album "Station to Station" in 1990 and "Cool Waters" in 1993. After a 25-year hiatus, he suddenly released this one-sided 12-inch single from PPU in the US in 2015. In the same year, a compilation was also released by Music From Memory, bringing him back into the spotlight. On this work, with simple programmed drums, a thick bass line, and minimal sequenced electric piano as the backdrop, he delivers a deeply mellow R&B tune with urban vocals oozing a sexy black vibe that is superbly cool. An instrumental version is also included, but the vocal version is splendid. One-sided pressing. (Chee)
