This is a 1987 leader album by Nathan Davis, an American lead player who has played with Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers and Eric Dolphy Septet, and is also active as a composer, arranger, and scholar who has published a book analyzing the history and development of jazz music. Dusko Goykovich, Kenny Drew, Jimmy Moore, and Al Levitt participated in this work, which was recorded in a London’s studio that same year. A3, which brings to mind a beautiful scene of a beach at night with streetlights shining, and A4, composed by Carroll Coates, with its gentle melody of flute and soprano saxophone, it’s a great piece of adult jazz that develops throughout in a very relaxed atmosphere.
