Nexus, a percussion group from Toronto, Canada, known for their work with Paul Horn and their outstanding performances of music by John Cage and Steve Reich, collaborated with renowned Canadian poet Earle Birney on this second of three albums released in 1982. Side A is a poetry reading of Birney's 1942 Governor General's Awards-winning work. The B-side features Birney's poetry layered with Nexus' performance of tablas, steel drums, Chinese zither, temple bowls, gongs, harmonica, and a large array of Indian/Asian/Caribbean ethnic instruments, as well as sound effects. Sound effects are also used, making this a very rewarding listening experience. It is avant-garde piece.
