This is the 1962 album by the renowned American jazz singer Nina Simone, who skillfully covers a wide range of styles from standards to primitive Afro sounds. Produced by Stu Phillips, Nina herself handles the arrangements and features the Malcom Dodds Singers' chorus. The album is a soul jazz masterpiece where she covers timeless classics by Duke Ellington such as "Do Nothin’ Till You Hear from Me," "Solitude," "Satin Doll," and "It Don’t Mean a Thing," incorporating gorgeous orchestration. While the entire album is fantastic, the ballad tunes, in particular, leave a deep impression.
