Misa Teria - Rituales Afrocubanos
Riviera Records/King Record (Japan) 1973
GT-5013 (LP) w/obi.
sleeve : VG+(SOC, light wear on corner, some dirts.)
media : EX-/EX-(some slightly surface noise and click noise.)

This album, released in 1973 as part of the Ethnic Music Series supervised by two leading figures—Fumio Koizumi, one of Japan’s most distinguished ethnomusicologists, and Toyo Nakamura, who helped introduce world music to Japan—features field recordings made in Cuba, an island nation in the Caribbean. It captures the traditional music performed during rituals of Santería, an Afro-Cuban religion rooted in African spiritual traditions. The recordings present chants sung in call-and-response between men and women, accompanied by percussion instruments, where simple rhythmic patterns intertwine to create intricate and mesmerizing polyrhythms.
