After moving to New York, Alto saxophonist Noah Howard recorded his first album in 1966, and has since contributed to the promotion of free jazz with Archie Shepp, Albert Ayler, Frank Write, and others. This album was released in 1968, and it is recorded live at Judson Hall in New York City in 1966 with Dave Burrell (p), Ric Colbeck (tp), Norris Jones (b), Cathrine Norris (cello) and Robert Kapp (per). Both sides feature over 18 minutes of performance, and both are cosmic ensembles that unfold from an introduction that is highlighted by Norris' impressive cello performance. Especially the ethnic and galactic sound of the B-side, which pays homage to John Coltrane, is wonderful. This is Italian reissue of an unknown release year. Probably, ‘80s.
