Noah Howard worked with Dewey Redman and Sonny Simmons in California, recorded his first album in 1966 after moving to New York, and since then has contributed to the promotion of free jazz with Archie Shepp, Albert Ayler and Frank Write. This album was released this album in 1972. Recorded in a New York studio in 1969 with Arthur Doyle (ts), Earl Cross (tp), Leslie Waldron (p), Norris Jones (b), Mohammed Ali (dr) and Juma (per). The band's aggressive and powerful interplay is consistent throughout, and the Afro-groove is evident throughout the entire album. Ali's drumming on B1, which is inspired by Mt Fuji, is also a highlight.
