This is the first album released in 1973 by Open Sky, a unit consisting of reedist Dave Liebman, one of the Miles Davis family, drummer/percussionist Bob Moses, who specializes in ethnic free jazz, and bassist Frank Tusa, who also played on Paul Bley's monster album "The Paul Bley Synthesizer Show". The first half on A1 features an earthy sounding flute and arco bass creating a mysterious space, followed by a furious interplay after that, and Bob Moses' improvised drumming on A2, which is too intense and superb. The aggressive sound that symbolizes the New York avant-jazz scene is in full bloom.
A1: Flute Pieces
