This album was released in 1969 by Ornette Coleman, an American saxophonist who had a huge influence on Don Cherry and many other musicians as the undisputed father of free jazz. It was recorded live with his son Denardo Coleman, who was only 12 years old at the time, as drummer, along with his old friends from LA, Dewey Redman (ts) and Charlie Haden (b). The three of them play in perfect harmony with Denardo's drumming, which is full of youthful energy and dynamism, and their playing is superb and exciting. Ornette's playing feels very much influence gave to Don Cherry.
