This is a 1977 album by the American saxophonist Ornette Coleman, who is undoubtedly regarded as the father of free jazz and has had a significant influence on numerous musicians, including Don Cherry. Recorded live in Paris, France, in 1971, this Japan-exclusive release features a double album set of recordings from a concert Coleman performed with his quartet consisting of Dewey Redman (tenor saxophone), Charlie Haden (bass), and Ed Blackwell (drums), all longtime friends since their days in Los Angeles. The album boldly ventures into compositions with modern music tendencies, showcasing Coleman's unique and aggressive yet highly organic sound world. Tracks like the stylish C1 with its electrified bass reminiscent of a fuzz guitar and oriental melodies, and the mesmerizing D1 where Coleman's violin dances wildly over deep and dreamy bowed bass solos, highlight Coleman's distinctive approach to both jazz and contemporary compositions. This performance is a gem, demonstrating Coleman's ability to create an aggressive yet incredibly organic sonic landscape. On this version the titles appear on the labels exactly the same as the tracklist from inner gatefold.

C1: Fantasy 77
D1: Reminiscence
