Three compositions by Arvo Part from Estonia, one of the Baltic States, Peter Maxwell Davies from England, and American minimalist Philip Glass are performed by English organist Christopher Bowers-Broadbent. The album was built by Metzler & Sohne between 1958 and 1960 on the organ installed in the Gusosmunster Cathedral in Zurich, Switzerland. The A-side by Arvo Part contains four songs that evolve from serenity to a solemn religious world. B1/B2 by Peter Maxwell Davies is meditative with its long, synthesized melody, while B3/B4 by Philip Glass is minimal music with its repetitive melody and uninterrupted tone, creating a unique sound. I am still attracted to Glass's works. This is a rare analog release from 1992, when we had already entered the CD era.
