Pat Metheny
ECM Special X
PAP-4020 (Japan) 1980
PAP-4020 (LP)
sleeve : EX-(wear on corner, light dirts.)
Released in 1980 as the fifth installment in Trio Records’ original artist compilation series ECM Special—a project showcasing ECM Records’ Japanese editions produced by Trio since the mid-1970s—this album features selections from Pat Metheny’s early ECM works. It includes one track from the Pat Metheny Group’s first studio album (1978), two tracks from his ECM debut Bright Size Life (1976), and two from Watercolors (1977), offering a fine overview of Metheny’s musical sensibility. Jaco Pastorius’s bass performance on track A2 is, as expected, truly outstanding.
