Paul Bley, one of Canada's leading jazz pianists, has been active since the 1950s, participating in the Ornette Coleman Quartet and Jazz Composer's Orchestra, as well as in his own groups, and has recorded many masterpieces. "The Paul Bley Synthesizer Show" released in the same year is known as a masterpiece as using synthesizer, but this is also a real masterpiece. The two long tracks, performed in trio with Annette Peacock (vo) and Han Bennink (ds), are on one side each, and the occasional frenzied, improvised dialogue will draw you in. Peacock's voice is a magic touch that adds to the atmosphere of the album. Highly recommended.
