This is the 1965 album by one of Canada's leading jazz pianists, Paul Bley, who has been active since the 1950s, participating in groups like the Ornette Coleman Quartet and the Jazz Composer's Orchestra, and leaving behind numerous masterpieces with his own groups. The album was recorded in 1965 in Copenhagen, Denmark, featuring a trio with Kent Carter on bass and Barry Altschul on drums. Focusing on the scores by Annette Peacock and Carla Bley, the album creates an abstract world of sound, with Altschul's drumming scattered randomly in space, Carter's restrained bass providing a flexible foundation, and Bley's piano delivering introspective and unique melodies with his distinctive touch, floating throughout. This artist's works have consistently possessed distinct characteristics from his early days.
