Second leader album released in 1957 by American jazz bassist Paul Chambers, who played in many famous sessions as one of the most outstanding bassists during the hard bop boom of the 50s and 60s. Sextet with Donald Byrd (tp), John Coltrane (ts), Kenny Burrell (g), Horace Silver (p) and Philly Joe Jones (ds). A1 has an excellent Afro-Cuban flavour, A2 is a blues tune with Burrell's guitar and Silver's piano, and B3 is a swingin' solo with Chambers' frayed bass. This is a masterpiece of well-tuned playing by the best of the best. This is a Japanese reissue from Toshiba-EMI’s ‘Blue Note LP 1500 Collection’ series in 1994.
