This is a 1973 ECM leader album by American jazz drummer Paul Motian, who played on Bill Evens' 1961 classic "Waltz for Debby" and has since recorded numerous sessions. It features Charlie Haden (b), Keith Jarrett (p,ft), Sam Brown (g), Becky Friend (ft), and Leroy Jenkins (vl). A1, with Haden's bass and Brown's guitar layered with lyrical melodies, is a masterpiece, but A3, with its tense and thrilling interplay, and B2, with Jarrett's flute dancing earthily, are also great examples of the spiritual sound of early ECM with ethnic sentiments. This is the original German 1st pressing.
A1: Georgian Bay
B2: American Indian: Song of Sitting Bull
