Album released in 1974 by American saxophonist Pharoah Sanders, who joined John Coltrane's group in the mid-1960s, together they suggested new forms of jazz, and continued his work after Coltrane's death, leaving behind many spiritual jazz masterpieces. This work is one such example. The group includes Joe Bonner, Cecil McBee and Norman Connors, all of whom have supported Sanders' music in the past, as well as Badal Roy, James Mtume, Lawrence Killian and James Branch. Side A is a hymn to mankind, moving from a flighty first half that sings of love in high spirits to a second half with organic sounds from various percussions and Bonner's supremely beautiful piano gently spinning a melody. The B-side is the 'Sheets of Sound', dedicated to the late John Coltrane, a mentor at heart. It is an unspoken historical classic. Original US pressing is now in stock.
