Pharoah Sanders, one of the most important saxophonists in spiritual jazz, recorded this masterpiece between 1970 and 1971, featuring Lonnie Liston Smith, Cecil McBee, Michael White, Roy Haynes, Majid Shabazz, and others. A1 features Sanders' gently spoken soprano on Smith's Fender Rhodes and organic sounds that sway gently like the sound of waves. This album feel Sanders' return-to-nature spirit that carries on the spirit of John Coltrane. This is the remastered version released in 1987 on MCA Impulse!.
