An album recorded in 1959 by American drummer Philly Joe Jones, who gained recognition in the 1950s through collaborations with Tadd Dameron, Tony Scott, and later, with the Miles Davis Quintet, where he became widely known. This Riverside release features a top-notch big band with Lee Morgan (tp), Blue Mitchell (tp), Curtis Fuller (tb), Herbie Mann (fl), Cannonball Adderley (as), Benny Golson (ts), Sahib Shihab (bs), Wynton Kelly (p), Sam Jones (b), and Jimmy Garrison (b). Led by Jones's powerful and uninhibited drumming, the album showcases thick ensembles and impressive solos by the participating members. It was initially released in Japan in 1978 as part of Victor's "Relaxin' at Riverside 10" series.
