This is a leader album released in 1985 by Piero Bassini, an Italian pianist who has been active since the mid-70's and has also recorded works for Splasc(h), a label that led Italian new jazz in the 80's. The album features a quartet with Michele Bozza (ts), Gianni Grecchi (b), and Giampiero Prina (ds). The quartet plays orthodox bop and modal jazz, but only two tracks featuring percussionist Luis Agudo, who has also released an album on the same label, are different. The Brazilian-style ethnic jazz B3 with Agudo's berimbau and vocals dancing in an organic way is especially wonderful.
