A 1982 double album by Thermænius, the group formed by Danish guitarist Pierre Dørge—known for numerous acclaimed recordings on SteepleChase and internationally for his African music-influenced Jungle Orchestra—with Irene Becker, Morten Carlsen, H.C. Mogensen, and others. The album documents live performances recorded at concerts in Copenhagen and Roskilde around 1980. Highlights include A1, an Afro-jazz piece composed by Irene Becker with Ed Blackwell and also performed by Don Cherry. Throughout the set, familiar-sounding melodic hooks appear unexpectedly as the group blurs the boundaries between jazz, world music, and rock in a highly distinctive way. A superb live performance full of imagination and freedom.
