A leader album released in 1969 by Swiss drummer Pierre Favre, whose talents have been fully realized across a wide spectrum from jazz to the experimental, through his many appearances on ECM recordings, collaborations with voice performer Tamia, and free-jazz sessions with artists such as Andrea Centazzo. This album features recordings made in Zurich in 1968 by a trio with Swiss bassist Irene Schweizer, known for her contributions to the landmark 1967 album Jazz Meets India and for acclaimed work with John Tchicai, and German bassist Peter Kowald, celebrated for collaborations with Barre Phillips and Peter Brötzmann. Favre’s spatial, highly textural drumming intertwines freely with Kowald’s bass, which bends and sings melodically, and Schweizer’s bass, spreading in all directions, creating improvisations that surge and recede like waves. Most likely an original Swiss pressing, apparently privately issued.
