This is the first leader album released in 1984 by Pietro Tonolo, a saxophonist who has participated in the Enrico Rava Quintet and released a duo album with Henri Texier, and is still active as a standard-bearer of the Italian New Jazz scene. Roberto Gatto (ds), Franco Piana (tp), Rita Marcotulli (p), Sandro Gibellini (g), Furio Di Castri (b), etc. participate in this album, playing in quartet, quintet and sextet formation for each piece. The cool side and austere performance unique to Italy of this era, which is hidden in the orthodox bop/modal style, are excellent. The urban and deep approach of the B-side is especially wonderful.
