This album was released in 1981 by Poncho Sanchez, a Mexican-American Latin percussionist who has long supported the sound of Cal Tjader and Clare Fischer, and has also produced many masterpieces with his own band. Sanchez's congas are, of course, excellent, as are the performances of the other musicians on the album, which opens with A1, a cover of Dizzy Gillespie's undisputed historical masterpiece, and continues with a very tight and bright performance of cool Latin jazz throughout. Sanchez's percussion solo part is also very impressive.
