This is the 2nd solo album released by the lyrical guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Ralph Towner in 1974 on the ECM label. Known as a key member of the ethnic jazz group Oregon, Towner has collaborated with notable ECM artists such as Gary Burton, John Abercrombie, Egberto Gismonti, and Keith Jarrett, in addition to creating outstanding works as a solo artist. Throughout the album, Towner employs a variety of instruments, including 12-string guitar, classical guitar, piano, and gong, all recorded in multiple layers.
The album evokes a serene world reminiscent of a tranquil seascape, much like a piece of artwork. Towner's style, characterized by its emotional depth and gentle progression, was already well-established at this early stage. It's suitable for both attentive indoor listening and enjoying in the midst of nature. The Japanese release of this album came out in 1980 as part of the "ECM 10th Anniversary Collections," commemorating ECM's 10th anniversary.
